We are proud to recognize Sowing Seeds Community Garden in Goulds as the 2026 recipient of our Community Healthy Eating Award! This Award recognizes communities and organizations that have worked to create healthier food environments through their facilities, programs!

Established to provide fresh local produce to food banks, promote food security, create opportunities for learning and mentorship, encourage community partnerships, and inspire similar initiatives across the province, this project has grown into an incredible example of what collaboration can achieve.

 In 2024, dedicated volunteers harvested approximately 3,500 pounds of fresh produce, helping provide ingredients for more than 10,000 meals through organizations including St. Kevin’s Parish Gould NL, The Gathering Place, Choices for Youth, and the Community Food Sharing Association.

Building on that success, the project expanded in 2025 with 40 raised garden beds, including accessible beds, welcoming even more community groups and families to participate. New partnerships with the Mount Pearl Lions Club,, Cathedral Parish & Emmaus House Food Bank, and the Goulds 4-H Club continue to strengthen this inspiring initiative.
